Opinel began making knives in 1890 in the Savoie region of France. Since then it has become a icon in the world of cutlery representing simplicity, durability and affordability.
While Opinel makes a number of stainless steel knives today, we prefer the original carbon blade folding knives which require more care but are easily sharpened to a razor edge.
The No. 8 knife measures 7 1/2" open with a 3 1/4" blade. Hand-wash only and never leave the blade wet 9 (or it will rust). Over time, the blade will stain to a dark slate-like color.
