Old-World Baked Goods in Cobble Hill

Bien Cuit pays homage to a bygone age by putting intense care, time and the best ingredients into their baked goods. They have an impressive selection of bread, the aroma of which pervades the entire store. In addition to bread, they offer a wide range of sweets and pastries: cookies, cakes, danishes, tortes and eclairs. There is a small seating area, and you can order coffee, sandwiches and quiche to eat on site to go. The whole place calls to mind a traditional French patisserie mixed with a boulangerie, and upholds the high standards that you would expect of such an establishment.

I found the service to be very convenient, however I received the wrong items in my order.

The items I ordered were great, but the delivery was not handled well. I had written for the delivery to go to the front desk. Instead, the driver called me twice, asking where to bring the items. There is one entrance to the address I provided, and the front desk is right inside of that entrance--there is almost no way for this to be confusing. Then, the driver handled the box of pastries extremely roughly. I only know this because the security person at the desk thought it was so bizarre that he told me about it. Specifically, the driver apparently turned the box upside down several times in front of the security person, to the point where he asked me when I picked it up, "What's in that box? I hope it's nothing fragile!" The thing is, pastries are actually kind of fragile--the point of ordering fancy pastries is to have something nice to look at as well as that tastes good. It felt weird that the driver was not more aware of this. He also didn't take the tip that I left, which was weird.
