From our conception in 1933 to current day Chester’s has always been striving to improve upon the status quo; an idea instilled by our founder, Frank Chester, when he brought the idea of butchering chickens prior to purchase. Progress continued to be made when his son-in-law Bill Smith revolutionized the Pacific Northwest grocery retail industry by being the first store in Oregon to install electronic scanners for check-out. At Bill’s retirement in 2000 Bob CowanThompson purchased the store and has since developed open lines of communication with employees through fiscal transparency and a sense of ownership in the stores well being.

An issue with the app delayed availability of pick up but store personnel quickly remedied the situation.
