The product for which Tiptree is best known, delicious dark crimson jam made from the tiny, rare & intensely sweet Little Scarlet strawberry. Wilkin & Sons are believed to be the only commercial growers of this fruit anywhere in the world today, making Little Scarlet conserve utterly unique to Tiptree.
The Wilkin family has been farming at Tiptree, Essex, since 1757, and today the business is run by Peter Wilkin, great grandson of our founder. Our fruit crops include strawberry, raspberry, loganberry, mulberry, blackberry, morello cherry, rhubarb, damson, Victoria plum, greengage, quince and the curious medlar. We believe that we are unique in the world in growing this difficult crop, but it is worth it for its depth of taste. Our fruits are all still hand-picked and the farm is LEAF Marque accredited (Linking Environment And Farming), ensuring that we farm sympathetically with our environment and encourage links with our local community.
