In 1998, native Stockholmer Annika Sundvik teamed up with John Lavelle and Lu Ratunil to start their first restaurant in Manhattan. Their New York-based Scandinavian adventures continue at Nordic Preserves. We use clean, seasonal ingredients, and creatively feature rich Nordic traditions like foraging, pickling, preserving, and curing. Our food is informed by Annika's memories of searching for mushrooms in the forests of Scandinavia as a child with her mother, visits to the beautiful indoor market at Oestermalmsalles in Stockholm, and trips through the cosmopolitan diversity of Stockholm’s Rinkeby neighborhood, where generations of immigrants from all over the world sold and still sell ethnic goods from open air market stalls.
